Meet the Team

Volunteers are always welcome from inside and outside the club. Please get in touch if you would like to help in classes or at our charity events.

Sarah. I am ‘The Boss’ and Principal Instructor. I have been instructing since 2000. I have had several dogs and currently own a rescue crossbreed, Dougal who has Bronze and Silver GCDS passes and a Bronze sniffer dog award. I also own a Norfolk terrier called Toby who has the Bronze GCDS award and has achieved 8 first places at Crufts. I am a qualified canine first aider. I am an approved examiner for the Royal Kennel club Good Citizen Dog Scheme at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. I attend many dog-related seminars and try to keep abreast of anything that may be of interest to members of the club. The welfare of all my members’ dogs is paramount and I structure my training methods to suit various dogs’ abilities. I actively encourage owners to ask questions and will endeavour to provide helpful answers.

Tony. Ex steel worker, photographer, sailing instructor and retired science teacher as well as a lifelong dog owner. He has been at CHeWs since 2013 with his own dogs. Apollo, a Springer spaniel cross who creates chaos and smiles in equal measure and has the Gold GCDS and Chester, a mixed breed rescue who is working towards the Bronze GCDS. Tony is a senior daytime instructor, and is also a Silver level assessor for the R.K.C.G.C.D.S

Marion. Retired teacher Marion has attended CHeWs since 2013 with her husband Tony. Marion teaches mixed ability on Tuesday evenings and is a senior daytime Instructor. She is also a Bronze level assessor for the R.K.C.G.C.D.S

Su has been an Instructor at CHeWs since 2018 and Instructs across all levels at our daytime classes. Su is a lifelong dog owner and currently has Alfie, a Labrador/Poodle/Bearded collie cross who has his RKC Gold award. Su has attended courses on dog law, body language, first aid and scent work. Alfie is a qualified therapy dog with Therapy dogs Nationwide.

Cliff went straight from school into an apprenticeship with BT, where he stayed for just over 42 years – Apprentice, Technician and Manager, with various coaching roles along the way. An avid Blues music fan, Cliff is currently owned by Kova, a yellow Labrador Retriever, who has his RKC Gold and UK Sniffer Dogs Bronze awards. They joined CHeWs in 2017 and were proud winners of the Joyce Dobson Shield for Dedication to Training in 2019. Cliff is a puppy and mixed ability Instructor as well as a canine first aider. Cliff is a  R.K.C.G.C.D.S Bronze level assessor and is looking forward to attending Silver and Gold Examiner courses.

Ben is in his third year of animal care and management at college. After completing 2 weeks work experience with CHeWs, Ben decided to stay and become a mixed ability Instructor who covers classes and assists our Instructors at all levels. Ben is a canine first aider.

 Rebecca has studied animal management and dog grooming and is a canine first aider. She has volunteered at a retired greyhound rescue kennels since 2011. She has her own dog grooming salon just down the road in Ware called Pride & Groom. She is the Wednesday Mixed ability instructor at CHeWs. Rebecca is currently owned by Harley, A Cavalier/Bichon cross who has achieved the Gold Good citizens award.

Owen is the Wednesday mixed ability Instructor and a canine first aider. Currently in college and working full time, Owen still managed for find time to achieve the RKC Gold and UK sniffer dogs Bronze award with his Cocker spaniel/poodle cross, Quinn. Owen is a canine first aider.

Martin. Mechanical and electrical engineer working within healthcare. Martin and his English springer spaniel have achieved the RKC Gold award, scent work courses and volunteers for Search and rescue for the London area working with the Metropolitan police. Martin has completed many Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) courses including puppy training and currently studying Motivation, Positive reinforcement, and more. Martin is a puppy and mixed ability Instructor. Martin will shortly become a  R.K.C.G.C.D.S Bronze level assessor. Martin is also a canine and human first aider.

Trevor. Our resident tea/coffee maker, mop monitor and joke teller. He manages the hall maintenance and garden for the Church hall and assists with classes and all of our fundraising events.
